This is community radio.

We broadcast 30 watts from the top of the Yukon Arts Centre to cover most of Whitehorse.

CJUC runs on volunteers. As a small station with big ambitions we need interested members of the community to participate.

We need individuals that are interested in programming as well as funraising and covering events in the community.

Everyone knows what radio sounds like

Our station is completely digital, run by Yukon developed web based software and requires basic media/internet skills.

CJUC Radio is a unique experiment in how radio can be democratized.

We took the studio from a central location and moved it to anywhere in the world a computer has internet access.

As a volunteer programmer you will log into Openbroadcaster, a Yukon built, open source web interface that allows you to program an hour long show. The process is no more difficult than programming a portable music player.

Once logged in Openbroadcaster allows uploading of digital tracks: music, spoken word, PSA, announcements of any nature, program intros, anything you can think of.

Sorry, no downloading.

Your show is then programmed into a time slot that will play at a predetermined time.

At this stage we have no facilities for playing records live on air. We know, this sucks and it is limiting.

CJUC believes that the all digital station can be a model for broadcasting in small communities by creating and maintaining a healthy alternative media while keeping administration and other costs to a minimum.

Does this kind of life look interesting to you?

Check out these basic guidelines we would like you to look over, particularly the section The NCRA Statement of Principles from the National Campus Community Radio Association before you make a decision to join CJUC.

If you think you may want to develop a show, create a one off program, cover an event, voice a PSA or help out with fundraising give us a call.
